About Lt Cdr Hafsa Sultana:
Lt Cdr Hafsa Sultana received her B.Sc. in Computer Science and Engineering (CSE) from the Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), Bangladesh, in 2015, and pursuing an M.Sc. in CSE from the same institute. Currently, she is serving as an Assistant Professor (Instructor Class B) in the Department of CSE at MIST.
In her professional career, she has held various positions in the Bangladesh Navy, including Deputy Electrical Officer at BNS Samudra Avijan and Staff Officer (Electrical) in the East Zone of the Bangladesh Coast Guard. She has also contributed significantly during her tenure at NSSD Dhaka and BNS Shaheed Moazzam, where she completed her specialization in electrical systems. She has proudly represented Bangladesh internationally, visiting South Korea for WIMPOC 2023.
Her research interests include bilingual spam SMS detection, machine learning, and natural language processing. She has developed the BESpam dataset for Bangla-English bilingual spam detection and published research papers presented at international conferences such as RAAICONE 2024 and WEICON 2024.
Apart from her professional achievements, she is a proud mother of two daughters, Zunairah Binte Zia and Humairah Binte Zia, and values the balance she maintains between her professional and personal life.
